It was rush hour and I needed to be at my son's school for parent teacher conferences with enough time to meet each of his instructors, a formality I've fondly embraced doing for a combined 22 years that started with my daughter in kindergarten what seems like eons ago. (Side note: my favorite title is being a mom!)
As I drove, torrential rain and winds obstructed my view of the lanes on the highway and I had to turn my wipers on "hyper" mode. You know that setting - it's like the wipers drank a pot of coffee. Though I don't mind driving in the elements, heavy rains are my least favorite condition. About 10 minutes before reaching the high school, the rain tapered off and I saw a double rainbow in the sky. The skies cleared as I pulled into the parking lot and then I witnessed this sight...
What I think is remarkable about this image is that what looks like a lake in the foreground was actually rain on the asphalt parking lot at my son's school. In the background is the chapel located at nearby Missouri Baptist University.
My definition of an epiphany is "a moment of sudden or great revelation that usually changes you in some way."
The moment I saw the magical illusion I knew I had to capture the moment forever -- my visual epiphany.
