Hi everyone!
Today, I´m posting a different kind of theme initiated by my friend . It is about a solemn place for our love ones... the cemetery. This is one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the City of Vienna, the resting place of the VIP´s, of the rich and the famous and some of the locals that are not so rich and famous, too. It has always been preferred by the nobility who lived in the district in the old days centuries ago.
However small its area is, they have organized this well so that you could easily find the grave of your loved ones. The VIPs, actors and politicians and prominent people of the land are buried here. Vienna has a different huge cemetery in the 3rd District in Simmering and that´s is where the big politicians and other personalities were laid to rest.... this one here is sort of exclusive because of lack of space.
This is the grave of hubby´s grandparents which in the meantime also includes my mom-in law´s
remains here when she passed-away three years ago. My husband´s grandma was able to get a plot when it was offered to the public in the 50´s. Back then, it was affordable. Nowadays, it is impossible to get one.
A normal plot means you could bury 8 persons which includes 3 or 4 coffins and 4 ashes (remains) and you only have to pay the maintenance fee every ten years in advance.
This mausoleum had been devastated since the past two decades probably because all descendants of the ones in here were all dead... If no family had claims, the State Administration will offer it to someone else and that was probably the case here. About two years ago someone started renovating this building.
This is a family grave and as you can see, there are many names on the plates which means the grave is wide enough to have more people of of about twenty. At the time this photo was taken, there were 17 people and as you can see on the left plate, there is still a space for the inscription.
This belongs to the Dichand Family, famous publisher of local newspaper... The head of this publisher Dynasty died about 5 years ago.
The grave of the famous austrian traditional chocolatier family above and below is the grave of the
Alexander family, Peter was a popular viennese actor singer who was also famous in Germany starring in different films in the 50s amd 60s.
