About the curation rewards for newbies like me

I write this post as a new user (and a minnow) to new users (and to minnows) to motivate new people (and minnows) like me on Steemit!
This post will give you a basic information about how much you can earn with curating as a newbie/minnow like me.

I registered on Steemit on 2017 May 17.
I have 108.368 Steem Power at the moment.
My estimated curation rewards last week is 0.254 Steem Power.
- This means I can earn 1.016 Steem Power monthly (4 weeks) just by curating if I maintain this weekly amount!
- Currently 1 Steem is worth $1.334 USD so this means I can earn $1.355 USD / month just by curating.
- But my earnings will probably increase as I constantly Powering Up.
- My curation rewards are mainly depending on my Steem Power.
- My earnings in Steem Power is also depending on several other factors like my voting power and the time difference between the posting and my upvote, but based on the previous weeks, my weekly earnings was around (between) 0.20 Steem Power and 0.30 Steem Power.
- The previous link is pointing to the FAQ which is (probably) up to date but I am not sure about that.
- The above mentioned link is pointing to the "What determines how much of the curation reward goes to the author versus curators?" question but when you open the link you find yourself at the top of the FAQ so you have to scroll down to the question. You can find this question in the "Voting and Curating" section of the FAQ.
- The value of Steem in USD is always changing (like any other currency) so this can affect our earnings (in the value of USD) as well.
- The voting power (effectiveness) and Steem Power are two things.
- You can see your voting Power (effectiveness) on various sites like steemd.com or steemdb.com and chainbb.com. For example: https://steemdb.com/@yourusername.
Of course you have to replace the "yourusername" with your username to see your profile. - Your voting power (effectiveness) is decreasing with each 100% vote you cast by 2% of your remainig voting power, but also recovers over time by 20% per day.
- This can change in the future as it is already changed in the past. So the 20% (or any other thing) can be inaccurate by the time of reading but it's correct at the time of writing.
- The FAQ is currently suggesting casting 10 upvotes per day. If you cast more than 10 upvotes per day, each vote will be worth less and it will take longer to reach full voting power again.
- My example: I currently have 108.368 Steem Power and my voting power is 44.47% at the moment (so I am voting more than 10 times per day) and my upvote is currently worth approximately $0.024.
- Currently new users/minnows (below 500 Steem Power) can only vote with 100% voting strenght.
For example: If I could adjust my current upvote strenght to 50%, then my current upvote could worth only $0.012 and would only decrease my current voting power by 1%. - The FAQ is probably always up to date so I suggest you to read the FAQ about the voting power.
Especially if you found this article months/years after the time of writing.
I hope that this post is helpful and easy to understand!
Thank you for reading!
