I did a lot of thinking on day 22 because I experienced some inner conflict and I'm starting to question my overall way of thinking. Something I really value is logical consistency which forced a question of where to draw the line. The concept of food has always been a very good example to me which brought me to a point where I only drink water and tea and never consume any real candy or other treads and so on (I'm still emotionally attached to some things like probably eating a bit too much salt, so it's definately not 100% consistent). While this way of going about thing in a way more based on facts instead of feeling has really worked, it would be logically inconsistent to draw the line at only food and not do the same thing in other areas of how I go about life. The main issue is that this leaves little room for self deception and is extremely confrontational at points and does not resonate whith people who live their lives mostly based on more primitive emotions.
To give an example, one of the thought experiment questions I struggled with is "why would I watch a movie if I can save a life instead? For me this question is very similar to "Should an animal die for my pleasure? to which the obvious answer is no if you think about it while leaving all your emotional attachements aside. (which is something very few people are capable of to begin with)
Maybe I shoud put the bar a bit lower for now and not care so much about being logically consistent. For now I can't really let it go and will probably keep thinking about it on day 23 to hopefully come up with a solution.
