There are stories we carry in our hearts that we wish we never had to tell.
This is one of them.
We once had a young girl who had already endured more than most children her age. After losing her mother at a very tender age, she was left in the care of her elderly grandparents, who struggled daily to provide for her basic needs.
In an attempt to give her a better future, she was taken away and placed with another family far from home. Sadly, the experience was not what was hoped for. She faced hardship, confusion, and eventually found herself running away, trying to return to the only place she knew as home.
We welcomed her back and did what we could. We tried to provide care, stability, and a sense of belonging. At one point, arrangements were made for her to stay with a teacher near the school, hoping this would give her a safer environment to continue learning.
But despite these efforts, her story reminds us of a deeper challenge we face.
The absence of a dormitory means that some children must move between unstable environments, exposing them to risks that affect their safety, education, and future.
Losing her was not just a moment of grief — it was a lesson.
A reminder that access to safe, consistent shelter is not a luxury for these children — it is a necessity.
This is why we continue to work toward building a dormitory for our school. A place where children can stay, learn, and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
Because sometimes, the difference between a hopeful future and a lost one is simply having a place to call home.
If you are reading this, I invite you to reflect on what safe learning environments mean for vulnerable children.
Every child deserves stability. Every child deserves safety. Every child deserves a chance.
