Charlottesville was cucumber calm when I filmed the first night of tryouts for C'Ville FC on August 24. The semipro soccer team represents most of us in the U.S. I drove from Colorado to catch the eclipse before the tryouts, and I drove through Hot Springs, Arkansas on the way home. As she revealed in this video, violence is very real. I just hope the overwhelming calm and courtesy I experienced during my 4,000-plus-mile drive across the U.S. outweighs it all.
