Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer (1340-1400) is an immortal name in the history of English Literature. His contribution to the development of English poetry is so great that he has been rightly called "The father of English Poetry". Literature reflects the tendencies of the age in which it is produced and there is always a great literary artist who becomes the mouthpiece of his age and gives expressions to its social, political and literary tendencies. Such a poet was Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century.
