GM Hans Niemann won the 2026 Chess Grand Tour Super Rapid and Blitz tournament in Poland. He did so in a field packed with heavyweights, including the world champion, the winner of the Candidates Tournament and the champion’s challenger, the world’s third-ranked player, and many other stars. So it was an impressive performance.

However, it’s difficult to play accurately in speed chess. Take, for example, the final game that decided everything between Wojtaszek Radoslaw and Hans Niemann. The Polish player had already made a serious mistake, and Niemann let it slide. He just made another mistake, and Niemann again overlooked it by playing Rab8 here. How should he have played to secure a winning advantage?
