Already more than 10 years ago I still took part in chess tournaments and played for a rather strong chess team as well. But to play chess "seriously" is rather time consuming and can interfere with other tasks one has to do in life. Therefore one day I decided from now on to consider this great game as a pure hobby only. I retreated from tournament chess apart from some sporadic exceptions. Nowadays most of the time I prefer to play chess in the Internet as a method to relax.

However there is a (nice) exception: I still have an "old" chess friend from long time ago. He isn't a very strong player but full of enthusiasm for this game. Therefore he founded a little small chess club (not too far away from my place). His team plays in a more or less low league in Germany (actually I always forget the exact name of this league). He persuaded me to become a member of his team (I just couldn't say "no"). :-) Normally I don't take part in the matches of that league though, because I prefer to spend my weekends with other things than chess. From time to time however, always if his team faces an especially important match (for example if it is about to prevent to be relegated into an even lower league), my friend "bothers" me so long until I agree to join the competition. That leads to the result that once or twice a year I travel to his place and take part in a match of his team. :)
In January 2016 I played my last game for him so far. In the position below at a first glance it maybe appears as if black was still OK but actually I found a move which gave me a clear advantage (means to gain at least a pawn). What did I play?

Es sind schon mehr als 10 Jahre vergangen, seit ich noch an Schachturnieren teilnahm und außerdem für ein ziemlich gutes Team spielte. Aber "ernsthaft" Schach zu spielen ist sehr zeitaufwändig und kann negative Auswirkungen auf andere Lebensbereiche haben. Deshalb beschloss ich eines Tages, von nun an dieses schöne Spiel nur noch als reines Hobby zu betreiben. Ich zog mich, bis auf einige sehr seltene Ausnahmen, vom Turnierschach zurück. Heutzutage spiele ich Schach meist nur noch im Internet, als eine Methode, mich zu entspannen.

Allerdings gibt es da eine (schöne) Ausnahme: Ich habe noch einen "alten" Schachfreund aus vergangenen Tagen. Er ist kein besonders starker Schachspieler aber voller Begeisterung für dieses Spiel. Deshalb hat er (nicht sehr weit von meinem Wohnort entfernt) einen kleinen Schachklub gegründet. Sein Verein spielt in einer mehr oder weniger niedrigen Spielklasse in Deutschland (ich kann mir nie merken, wie die Liga genau heißt). Er überzeugte mich, ein Mitglied seines Schachklubs zu werden (ich konnte einfach nicht "nein" sagen). :-) Normalerweise nehme ich nicht an den Manschaftskämpfen teil, weil ich meine Wochenenden mit anderen Dingen als Schach verbringen will. Von Zeit zu Zeit jedoch, immer wenn seine Mannschaft vor einem besonders wichtigen Match steht (z. B. wenn es darum geht, den Abstieg in eine noch tiefere Spielklasse zu vermeiden), "löchert" er mich so lange, bis ich zusage, mitzuspielen. Das führt dazu, dass ich mich ein- oder zweimal pro Jahr zu ihm auf den Weg mache, um an einem Mannschaftskampf seines Teams teilzunehmen. :)
Im Januar 2016 spielte ich meine bisher letzte Turnierpartie für ihn. In der Stellung unten sieht es auf den ersten Blick vielleicht so aus, als sei die Welt für Schwarz noch in Ordnung. Allerdings fand ich mit Weiß einen Zug, der mir einen klaren Vorteil sicherte (mindestens den Gewinn eines Bauern). Was spielte ich?
