--- I'll go & try (Will they let me in? & if so, will they let me out again?) to visit the empire of evil for a few days. So, there won't be any updates for a while.
'This is so hard': The Chinese small businesses brought to a standstill by Trump's tariffs
"Nearby, Amy is helping to sell ice cream makers at her booth for the Guangdong Sailing Trade Company. Her key buyers, including Walmart, are also in the US.
"We have stopped production already," she says. "All the products are in the warehouse."
It was the same story at nearly every booth in the sprawling Canton Fair in the trading hub of Guangzhou."
--- Well, at a trade fair, you will of course find those who are hit most by tariffs. But this is just a fairly small part of the economy. China has bigger problems:
"On a pavement near some shoe factories, a few workers were squatting down to chat and smoke.
"Things are not going well," says one, who was unwilling to give his name. His friend urges him to stop talking. Discussing economic difficulties can be sensitive in China.
"We've had problems since the Covid pandemic, and now there's this trade war. I used to be paid 300-400 yuan ($40-54) a day, and now I will be lucky if I get 100 yuan a day.""
--- & that's the general reality in China. The economy has been in trouble for quite a while. The trade 'war' is just the icing on the top.
China reportedly orders its airlines to halt Boeing jet deliveries amid US trade war
"The Chinese government has asked carriers to stop purchases of aircraft-related equipment and parts from American companies"
--- Which won't have any short term effects, anyway. So, it would be: Yawn ... were it not for the fact that Chinese need parts for maintenance, I guess. Probably not a good idea to use Chinese airlines for the time being.
China's murky bankruptcies expose hazards for foreign investors
"Gaps in enforcement of China's insolvency laws can leave creditors vulnerable to opaque dealings and malicious bankruptcy filings by firms seeking to evade payment obligations, or by individuals trying to appropriate company assets
[...] For investors and company owners, the lack of transparency during bankruptcy proceedings can be galling. Foreign investors face even greater difficulties in engaging Chinese courts to enforce foreign judgements and obtaining information in accordance with the law.
"The local, regional courts in China always favour their local citizens and seem to ignore the rights of U.S. shareholders," said Hill.
Even in purely domestic cases, Chinese courts generally side with local authorities and interests, three lawyers told Reuters. This can disproportionately influence cases connected to local governments, such as developer bankruptcies"
--- Welcome to China!
This has a long tradition & is unrelated to the current trade war, but it shows why you shouldn't invest in China in the first place.
Xi makes a case for free trade, presenting China as a source of ‘stability and certainty’
"“China can offer a lot to Vietnam and other ASEAN countries during this volatile period,” said Nguyen Thanh Trung, a professor of Vietnamese studies at Fulbright University Vietnam. “I think China can be a leader.”"
China escalates cyber fight with U.S., names alleged NSA hackers
"The accusations are an escalation in the ongoing cyber conflict between the two countries, one long feared by U.S. intelligence officers."
--- Oh, what an escalation! ... Yawn. ...
‘Russia lied to us’: Chinese fighters captured by Ukraine tell their story
"“I wanted to make money, but I didn’t expect to end up in a war,” said Zhang Renbo, a former firefighter from China, during a Ukrainian government press conference on Monday."
--- Yeah, right. But, then again, that seems to be quite common in China. People join the PLA for the money, not out of conviction. Which might give hope in case of a Taiwan invasion.

China stoppt angeblich Ausfuhr mehrerer Seltener Erden komplett
