China's central bank promises financial support to boost domestic demand
"China's central bank said on Tuesday it will step up financial support to expand domestic demand and technological innovation."
--- Same old, same old. And now back to reality:
S&P is already predicting China’s property slump will be worse than it expected this year
"The firm said Sunday that primary real estate sales will likely drop by 10% to 14% this year, worse than the 5% to 8% decline for 2026 sales predicted back in October.
[...] China’s property slump progressively worsened throughout 2025.
In May, S&P predicted a 3% decline in sales of new homes, only to revise that in October to an 8% drop. Sales ended up falling by 12.6% to 8.4 trillion yuan ($1.21 trillion) — less than half the annual sales of 18.2 trillion yuan seen in 2021."
--- And that's mostly based on official Chinese numbers, so you can guess how bad it really is.
‘Despicable and reprehensible’: China lashes out at UK expansion of visa scheme following Jimmy Lai conviction
"China’s embassy in London on Tuesday criticized the U.K.’s decision to expand a visa program for Hong Kong residents, calling the move an interference in its internal affairs after a court sentenced pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai to 20 years in prison under a national security law."
--- How dare you allowing our citizens to travel to your country and live there?!
"“BNO has misled Hong Kong residents to leave their homes, only to face discrimination and hardship in the U.K., living as second-class citizens,” an embassy spokesperson said"
--- I guess it's better to be a second class citizen in the UK than a first class citizen in China.
"British Prime Minister Keir Starmer raised the case with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a visit to Beijing last month, calling for the release of Lai, who is a British citizen. Critics and Lai’s family have argued that the U.K. did not take sufficient and concrete steps to reverse the course."
--- Quite obviously the UK did not.
Singapore says China-backed hackers targeted its four largest phone companies
"Singapore’s government has blamed a known Chinese cyber-espionage group for targeting four of its top telecommunication companies as part of a months-long attack.
In a statement Monday, Singapore confirmed for the first time that the hackers, known as UNC3886, targeted the country’s telecoms infrastructure, including its largest companies: Singtel, StarHub, M1, and Simba Telecom. The government previously said that it was responding to an unspecified attack on its critical infrastructure."
--- Mind you, Singapore is actually quite friendly to China. But as we all know, Emperor Xi trusts no one.
