The China-Pakistan Iran Peace Plan: All Words, No Commitment
"Beijing had, until recently, maintained a cautious distance from direct involvement in the Iran-Israel-U.S. war. The release of the proposal now allows China to enter the diplomatic space at a moment when calls for mediation are increasing, but before expectations of delivery have hardened. China wants to be seen as part of the solution, while avoiding commitments that would require follow-through."
--- To be fair, a Chinese commitment would be meaningless anyway.

China factory activity rebounds in March as Iran war looms over growth
"The official manufacturing purchasing managers index rose to 50.4 from 49 in February"
--- Dubious.
"The extent of the impact will depend on how long the energy flows from the Middle East are cut off, said BNP Paribas’ Rong. “If it is months, rather than weeks, then the supply disruptions, not just from oil, but also from the shortage of many chemical products — such as rare gases — would manifest itself in disrupting industrial production and services,” she said.
China’s exports could also suffer if overall global growth takes a serious hit from the energy crisis"
--- Meh. I doubt that the Iran conflict will have a greater impact than the internal economic problems of China.
China's new home prices rise in March; big cities see seasonal pickup, private survey shows
"China's new home prices edged up in March, reversing a decline in the previous month, supported by a seasonal pickup in demand in major cities, a private survey showed on Wednesday.
New home prices in 100 cities rose 0.05% from a month earlier after falling 0.04% in February, according to the China Index Academy, one of the country's largest property research firms."
--- Dubious. By the way, there are no private surveys in China.
Iran war could jumpstart cooperation between Beijing and Manila in South China Sea
"Talks this week between the two sides have shown “positive progress,” Beijing’s embassy in Manila said in a statement Thursday, urging both sides to “set aside differences and pursue joint development.”
Philippine officials, meanwhile, confirmed that no joint activity has started, but could in the future should negotiations be successful.
[...] A 2018 agreement between the Philippines and China on joint exploration did not result in any joint projects and was later terminated, while constitutional limits on foreign participation – reinforced by a 2023 Philippine Supreme Court ruling – remain a key constraint."
--- So, probably nothing will come of it. Anyway, an agreement with China would be stupid because China doesn't keep agreements.
China bans storing cremated remains in empty 'bone ash apartments'
"Low property prices in the country mean that for many, it is more affordable to entomb the ashes of relatives in an empty apartment than pay for funeral costs.
[...] Bone ash apartments are empty properties which are turned into ritual halls by family members of the deceased. Their loved one's ashes are placed inside and the space turned into an ancestral shrine.
[...] Mourners are making the most of low property prices, which have fallen in China in recent years and were down 40% in 2025 from 2021."
--- ...a sign of how well the property market is doing in China.
