Decorations are a mess, but the taste was great!
On Friday, I told my freshmen that I would not be returning next term to teach them English. By way of explanation, I explained that I was now 61, and Hunan province had recently lowered the mandatory "retirement" age for foreign workers to 60.
Well, two of my students (pictured below) took that to mean my birthday was literally only a few days ago. So, they went to a DIY cake shop and made me a birthday cake.
Actually, my birthday was in January, but who am I to turn down cake? January, June, what's the difference? The cake atsted fine, and it was served with a dollop of love.
Charissa and Jackie, two of my freshmen, made the cake.
My days have been filled with my filling up boxes and bags in preparation for leaving here June 27. Some of the stuff is going to my new place to await my arrival, some is being mailed to the States, some is going in my luggage, and some is being shared with people here in Jishou.
I tried very hard these past nine years not to accumulate too much stuff. Apparently, I failed miserably. lol
