DIMENSIONS OF GRACE.
Gen 22:13-14 says "And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen." God stopped Abraham from offering his beloved son Isaac, and prepared a ram that was eventually offered as a burnt offering? Yes, God provided Himself a ram that was offered in place of Isaac, to fulfil God's demand.
Therefore, Jehovah-Jireh means the "the Lord will provide". The actual rendering is "the Lord sees". So, whether, the Lord sees and therefore provides, isn't the subject today. The Lord's magnanimity, His graciousness is a reflection of His personality. God gave, so that Abraham could fulfil His demand. When you look beyond the gift, it should be obvious that God gave in other for Abraham to satisfy God's demand.
Look at the last few words of the 14th verse, it says 'In or on the mountain of the Lord it shall be seen?' What shall be seen? Rom 8:31-32 says "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" We should see the Son of God who died in my place, because I couldn't offer a good enough sacrifice, as demanded by God's righteousness, for my sin. Instead of Isaac, God gave a ram; John the Baptist called Jesus, 'the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!" - Hallelujah!! Remember the principle; God placed a demand on man, and God met His own demand without the man. More to come later.
