What better thing to do in snowy Michigan than make cardboard sleds? Those of you that follow my posts know I volunteer at my college radio station WLNZ. One of the events that we do every year is the "Cardboard Classic." This event is a chance for Lansing area residents to show their creativity with cardboard, then go out and destroy it while sledding down a hill!
Unfortunately this year we did not have snow. As a matter of fact it was almost 60 degrees today (No global warming here...) but we still held the event inside the gym and had a great time!
Of course I took pictures to share, and I hope you enjoy them, trust me they are pretty cool!
The 12th annual Cardboard Classic!
Held at the City of Lansing Gier Community Center.
All the best Emojis showed up...
Start with an empty gym (Notice the "Gier" on the bleachers...)
Tape off the lanes on the floor (One of the Endeavor House residents that came to help...)
Takes 2 to tape (Another of our residents...)
Bring in some radio people...
Bring in a DJ...
Blow up a bounce house...
Next thing you know, cardboard sleds show up!
I will split this post into 2 sections as there are quite a few of the actual event. This is just the set up pictures but as you can see we were already having a blast! It was super cool and it only got funner (Is that a word?) Anyway, make sure you look for post 2 of this series to see the creativity that was on display!
