We're in Jerusalem by a special healing pool. According to the Bible, "An angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons--- and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well" (John 5:4). So here's this guy, unable to walk, crowded in the rest of the city's suffering---- his only goal to scratch and claw to be the first into the pool to get healed. And to top it all off he's been doing this for 38 years and still hasn't succeeded! Life must be pretty miserable for him! In some ways, the life of the sick man at the pool to fight and claw to get to, but this pressure-cooker world of ours we certainly have enough other struggles: "I've got to get better grades to get into a better school, to get a better job, to get better money, to have a better life." Or, for those who think in short-range terms: "I've got to get that parking spot before he does!" Whatever our goals, we are living in a world full of competition. It's a hard, vicious, exhausting game.forget about being a super star. for must of us, just trying to get on the scoreboard is tough enough, But the good news is we don't have to score points we don't even have to play the game! "But if I don't score more points than what's-his- face, then what's-his-face'll get all the prizes!" He might. But so will you----if you put Christ first. " but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you as well"(Matthew 6: 33). That doesn't mean you'll breeze through your SATs, cruise into Harvard, become president of IBM, and make your first million by age 20. But putting Christ first does mean He will pick you out of the crowd (just as He did the lame man) and give you the wholeness and happiness you really want.If being rich will do it, then rich you'll probably be. But chances are, He'll be giving you a deeper and more lasting happiness, one that most billionaires will never have. Bottom line: You don't have to claw your way to the top.All you have to do is obey Jesus. You have His word on it.
