YES! Israel was looking for a Messiah that would overthrow the Roman oppression and restore Israel to its former glory. Jesus wanted to do that--and He is coming back to bring His kingdom here. But like you said Hive account@paquetedecuba, Jesus wanted to do so much more!

He wanted to defeat the larger enemy--sin, and the greater oppression--from the devil.
