BIBLE PASSAGE: 1Timothy 6: 6-10
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the
faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Meditation: 1Timothy 6: 6, 8
Godliness with contentment is great gain. With food to eat and clothes to wear; let us be content in everything.
THE MESSAGE
One of the worst enemies of self is discontentment. It makes you underrate what you have.
Contentment is being satisfied with what you have and who you are. Accomplishments or
constantly getting more doesn't bring contentment. The truth is that you are worth more than
you can see. Wanting more makes people accuse God thus, "Why me?" You don't need what God can't give you.
Be content, regardless of your circumstances Be grateful and don't despise
smallness now; it will be multiplied.
Prosperity, having more or poverty don't translate to happiness because the horizon is always
moving and there is no end in sight. Jesus told the ten lepers "Go and be certified by the priest“
On their way they found out that something had happened to them all. But, only one said
"Though, I'm not completely healed, but I am better than I used to be; for this I am grateful" He
eventually got everything, Contentment is cultivated and not achieved. It is easier to cultivate it
through your relationship with Jesus Christ and by being thankful to God for what you have
and who you are.
