... and this works both ways.
In the farmers point of view, to have a good harvest is to have good, healthy crops. And to have good and healthy crops, one must choose carefully the kind of seed to plant.
In the real world, this is true. Sadly, sometimes the good that you do may not always be returned the same way. Fortunately, we get to reap whatever goodness we sow in rather different ways that we do not expect.
After all, when we do good, we should not expect anything in return, an idea the world will frown upon. But those who adhere to this noble idea, God will reward them "according to his work".
Farmers expect harvest some time after planting. We work 9 to 5 and expect to be paid on paydays. This is just how the world works.
However, we need to remember that our actions will have consequences. What we sow is what we reap. And that's how the world works. The Scriptures support this argument.
Not surprisingly, this argument is also true in computer science: garbage in, garbage out. It couldn't be more simpler than this.
To have eternal life, you must receive God's grace and choose to do so. And that is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
"Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."
