There's more to life than working, sleeping, eating, and passing stool. More even than being a parent to your children, a brother or sister to your siblings, or an employee to your boss.
The poet says: "Gather ye rose buds while ye may..." because he knows that at the end of life, we are all food for worms. Surely, there must be more to live for ... than this.
And indeed there is. That's why something deep in your soul cries out for things of the spirit. You are a beloved child of the living God. Who gives you a rock to stand on amid the shifting sands of this fallen world.
Honor Him by letting go of the disappointment, bitterness, and unforgiveness that corrode your heart. Carve out of your busy crazy day a time of quiet, to hear His still, small voice.
And be prepared to trust and obey. Especially when the spirit leads you past distant boarders, and welcomes you into a strange new land.
