Hello my steemians brotohers and welcome to another Bible Q&A.
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5
“If with his stripes we are healed, we ought to be physically healed always; if we are not, then there is something wrong with our faith.” That is what some of the contemporary preachers like, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Bill Johnson, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer and others say.
Isaiah 53 is a portion of the scripture that shows us our depravity. It is a contrast between our evilness and the righteousness of Christ. He shed his blood for the ones who believe in order to save them from hell; he took our place, that´s what Isaiah 53 is about.
It is a salvific passage, from chapter 52 to 53. That is not a promise for healing; it is a promise for salvation. It is about the atonement provided for the healing of our soul, not our body.
That does not mean healing is not included in salvation but not all the benefits of the atonement are guaranteed right now.
Just like we do not have our glorify body yet, or our immortality, we have no a perfect body because we live in a fallen world. We age because of the same reason we get sick.
We are going to have an abundant life or a complete life in heaven, but not now.
God´s promise of perfection is not for this life; those promises will be fulfilled in the future in every believer. God never promised instant healing every time we get sick.
There is nothing wrong with our faith if we are not healed. Do not let anyone tell you that you do not have faith to be healed by God. If you are a Christian, you have all the faith you need for that. God heals today when he wants to.
Is physical healing provided in the atonement? Yes, but we will take part of that perfection in the future.
This is how a friend of mine prays. He is sick, but he has a profound knowledge of God and his attributes. We should follow his example:
Lord, I pray your will be done, if it is your will to heal me thank you, if not, help me to endure this season and use this trial to conform me to the image of your son, whatever your will is help me I can rest in your love and represent you well here on earth.
