John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Many at times we don't really understand what our fathers want from us. We see flaws in their wishes as we grow. Especially when we are in our teens and on our way to adulthood. A father's wish is to see the greatness in His son and/or daughter. No good father will know ever pray for the downfall if the child.
Before the death of David, he called his son to give him some advice. Solomon received wisdom and instructions on the enemies and friends of his Father. He was to deal with them as his wisdom guides him. David was a great king not because he was meant to be great. He was a great king because he leant and obeyed his fathers wishes. His father had commandered him before his death to deal with Joab who who was a disloyal to David and had disobeyed him severally. He obeyed his Fathers wishes by executing Joab. He also dealt with Shimei because he was ordered to. Solomon did not waste his life discovering what evil would come to him through Joab and Shimei. He just believed what his father said and executed them. His father also commandered Him to obey the laws of Moses which he did.Life is too short for you not to learn from the wisdom of your father.
1 Kings 2:46
So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
Solomon's Kingdom was established after he had listened to his fathers instructions and executed them all. Though he thought he was ordinarily obeying his father's wishes, he was establishing his kingdom unknowingly. Obedience is always better than sacrifice. As you obey the Lord who is our Father in Heaven, you will bring a blessing upon your life.
The laws of the universe were long established by God and there is a sweet blessing that follows honoring ones father. Ephesians 6:1-3. This cannot be undisputed as Solomon obeyed and enjoyed fully the blessings associated with it. Today, i want to to join me in Honoring the wishes of Our Father by obeying Him and getting to know Him well through reading the Bible. Lets obey His words and we will enjoy the blessings showered on Solomon due to his obedience.
