Christmas vs Christmas Eve
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS (IF YOU CELEBRATE)
It's an interesting day today, the 24th of December. It's Christmas Eve. About half of the people that celebrate this Christmas celebrate today on the 24th. The other half celebrates on the 25th. The reason being that some believe the event itself happened at night (as Shepherds watched their flocks by night). The 25th people believe it was past midnight, hence the following day.
The people that don't celebrate this Christmas are laughing at both camps above since the event didn't take place in December at all, so whether or not it's the 24th or 25th doesn't really matter. They're both wrong dates anyway. Existing winter festivals across ancient Europe were morphed into Christmas when Christianity arrived in Europe. Remnants of said festivals are clear to see; Yule, the Christmas tree, giving of presents, leaving of food sacrifices "cookies" for "Santa" by the window or fireplace, mistletoes and so on and so forth.
The people that don't celebrate whatsoever, not because they don't believe the event happened at all, but don't attach the same divinity to the event, are laughing at all three groups above.
Finally the folks that believe the entire thing was made up are laughing at everyone.
Me, I'm enjoying the time with family and taking the time to relax and have some fun. There is no peace on earth so I hope there's at least joy in heaven. Merry Christmas 🎄
Peace & Love,
Adé
