"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." Christmas is always my favorite time of year. Growing up, I couldn't wait for Christmas to come around so I could receive presents from my family, friends, and (obviously) Santa Claus. As I've gotten older and have moved off to college, Christmas has become a new kind of feeling. Since I'm only able to be home for a short period of time, getting these few weeks to spend Christmas with my family really allows me to cherish everything the holiday is about, and causes me to not take any moment of the holiday season for granted, whether it's rushing into the living room at 4:30 in the morning to open presents on Christmas morning, or simply sitting with my cat on my chest admiring the twinkling Christmas lights on our heavily-ornamented Christmas tree (as I am right now). There truly is "no place like home for the holidays," and appreciating where you are and who you are with makes those little Christmas moments even more special.
