Well that was a nice day, we spent the majority of it in bed watching back to back movies, today is gonna be a more planning and sketching kinda day, re-order my thoughts and notes a little bit, decide on what’s going to hold my focus the most and try and work through the day, try and get back into a rhythm already — christmas has a way of tractor beaming apathy on you if you let it. No Boxing Day sales BS for me, I don’t need anything from the stress of a town centre that I couldn’t get year round from amazon!
I’ve been really pleased with the feedback about the second video we did and the timing for christmas, do check it out - 🔴 THE SECOND STEEMIT COLLABORATIVE VIDEO: SPREAD LOVE for Christmas and New Year is finally UP!! 🎥 — Steemit and again, thank you for all of you that took part, it kinda dragged on getting this one done waiting on people and I’ve learned some lessons here for future ones, I’m working on the next one today briefly for the start of a new year, so make sure you get in on that, everyone has been paid their one steem for taking part as well, not bad at today’s prices of $3.27 for a quick line of spoke word video! :)
Man, yesterday was an all out attack on the senses — slow cooked meal throughout the day, quorn, not meat but some kind of 80’s idea of mushroom based protein meat replacement, we have it a lot now, I’ve become used to it, it was tasty and you can’t tell the difference when it’s in gravy with everything else, it was a christmas dinner in a bowl.
We managed to get through the kraken and the bush mills is down to half way already but we have run out of coke and lemonade and today we will be finishing off the sushi and no doubt the pasta. Dayle was already out of the door early this morning to go and do her yoga, she’s crushing it, she’s only got what like 5/6 days left to go, so proud of her for rocking up each and every morning to get it done even when she’s not into it, I know it gives her mental clarity ;)
Of course I’ve got the usual eggs, mushroom, parm and added chutney for the breakfast omelettes this morning ready to go when she get’s back, I know it was about an hour this one so I’m expected her to come back sore, little tired but maybe with a cosmic outlook — I just brewed up my coffee and I’m raring to get into a computer day, need to put together a solid list of actions for the next few weeks, think today might be researching a mockup tool this morning — I’m torn between sketch and framer right now.
Oh I forget to mention we had sushi again the other night, Christmas Eve and dayle let me open one of my presents which is this super awesome, sharp, big meat knife but also doubles up as a great veg and sushi knife, I can’t wait to get a sharpen on this and make it razor sharp — 25 year warranty for some bad ass Japanese style knife on knife action!
we went for a spread of useful and geeky gifts for Christmas Day but not too many things, partly cash but also practical, no point hoarding loads of stuff especially when you are trying to actively downsize to hand luggage and backpack life.
today is the uk’s ‘Boxing Day’
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day
Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated on the day after Christmas Day. It originated in the United Kingdom, and is celebrated in a number of countries that previously formed part of the British Empire. Boxing Day is on 26 December, although the attached bank holiday or public holiday may take place either on that day or two days later
So basically today was the day (back in the day) when the servants got to open their christmas boxes, there are some conflicting reports as to the intention of Boxing Day but I’ve always gone with this one.
.. .. the earliest attestations from Britain in the 1830s, defining it as "the first week-day after Christmas-day, observed as a holiday on which post-men, errand-boys, and servants of various kinds expect to receive a Christmas-box"
So you can imagine what it was like in the ‘british empire’ period with the snobs and the toffs having people ‘organise’ their Christmas Day and so today I guess is the ‘workers’ Christmas Day, it’s also known as Boxing Day sales here in the uk which is like another Black Friday but to be honest these days the deals and sales are garbage.
just the same old garbage brought across on big ships from china, I try to avoid it like the plague — my fav time if I need anything additional however is January, that’s when you really get deals as that’s a lot of businesses slow months, time to get some tactical kit for sorting out all my computer tech stuff and prepare for van life in 2018.
Ok, time to go over my notes and see what I can attack on the list today before taking a walk out to see what’s on offer at the shops, I hate them throwing stuff away but i did hear some good news that all Tescos are going waste free by February which is AWESOME news, not sure how they are going to do that but I’ve already read about vending machines in nearby cities that have a plastic card to access three items a day for free if people are homeless and need something to eat.
Talking of eating, time for breakfast! Did you have a good day yesterday, what did you do? Did you eat turkey? Pictures in the comments please! :)
. . .. oh also, paid everyone out yesterday for the last video. .
