This is one of my favourite views in Edinburgh. It's right next to the old city observatory on top of calton hill (a hill in the centre of town) and provides a great 360º view of Edinburgh. Pretty much all year round you can get a good sunset shot, though most people prefer the time of year where the sun sets behind or near the castle. There's always an interesting sky up here.
As you can see here in this second image, I am not alone in this opinion. Any given day of the year (provided the weather is nice) this place will be packed with tourists. You can see there aren't many here on this particular day but that's because this was taken in February .. which is one of the slowest months of the year for tourism. This probably represents every tourist in Edinburgh on that day lol!
