When you consider that just 70 years ago there was virtually nothing here after the collapse of the 1,000 year old fishing and pearl diving industrybut palm trees and a tax free port. It is an incredible story, just how this city has arisen.
Since the discovery of oil in 1966, the pace of development of Dubai's cityscape has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Largely the vision of the ruling Maktoumfamily. They decided not to rely on one industry and turned Dubai into a major trading and financial hub.
This beautiful palm tree standing proud amongst these massive new structures looks just right. If you notice the arabesque designs on the arched windows and the details on the buildings. It all hangs together to form a pleasing whole.
