Tuscany is renowned throughout the world for its art, history and beautiful landscape. Tuscany is rich in historical monuments.
The capital of Tuscany is Florence. It's one of the greatest cities in the World and it's the cradle of Renaissance. But the 20th century was hard for the city and its fragile artistic and historycal heritage. The city’s historic bridges, except for the Ponte Vecchio, were destroyed during World War II, and worse was to come in 1966 from devastating floods. Crowds of tourists, who came by cars, traffic and pollution was also i serious problem and now cars are not allowed to the historic city centre. Fortunately, Florence continues to thrive and keeps its heritage and beauty.
