Everybody recognizes the iconic structure that is Randy's Donuts, not so many people recognize this other fellow.
In the past 6 years, the total number of homeless people in Los Angeles has grown from 33,243 to 55,188. Of that number 41,000 live in cars, campers, tents and other makeshift structures. That's the largest group of unsheltered people in the country.
In an effort to relieve the problem voters have agreed to tax themselves $4.6 billion to build housing — 10,000 units in 10 years.
If that solves the problem or only puts a dent in it, that remains to be seen.
Until then, gentlemen like this will still remain to be seen.
Oh, and there's usually a long line to get donuts at Randy's.
