Based on some old photos of the Masjid Raya Baiturrahman Banda Aceh from the collection of tropenmuseum (https://tropenmuseum.nl/en), in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, I try to recapture the image from the same position.
On March 26, 1873, the Kingdom of the Netherlands declared war on the Sultanate of Aceh. On April 5, 1873, a total of 3,198 troops commanded by General Johan Harmen Rudolf Köhler landed at Pante Ceureumen and immediately stormed into the Masjid Raya Baiturrahman The second attack was a failure to the Dutch, General Köhler was killed, his heart pierced by bullets of the Aceh army.
On April 10, 1973, troops led by General van Swieten burned the Great Sultan of the Sultanate of Aceh. The Dutch action cause the Acehnese angry. To attract attention and to reduce the anger of the People of Aceh, in 1877, the Dutch rebuilt the Masjid Raya Baiturrahman. At that time Aceh was led by Sultan Muhammad Daud Syah Johan Berdaulat, the last Sultan of Aceh (https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masjid_Raya_Baiturrahman) .
Now, as a historic mosque that has a high artistic value, Masjid Raya Baiturrahman became a religious tourism object that is able to make every tourist amazed by the history and beauty of its architecture.
