Between about 1300 AD and about 1850 AD the earth experienced a cooling phase we call the Little Ice Age. Until 1300 Europe was in a warming period during which wine grapes were cultivated in southern England and cattle were raised in Greenland. In the 1600s the telescope was invented which allowed Galileo to observe the phases of Venus and declare from this that Copernicus was right and the earth revolved around the sun as did Venus and the other planets, which caused Galileo to be cancelled and his theories denounced as heresy. Nevertheless physical evidence continued to exist.
One of the first things astronomers did with the new telescope in the latter half of the 1600s was to observe the sun and discover and begin to catalogue sunspots. Beginning in the 1680s the frequency and number of sunspots began to decline until by 1700 they had completely disappeared. This was co-eval with the coldest years of the Little Ice Age. About 1715 sunspots reappeared and became gradually more numerous and frequent. Meanwhile the temperature of Earth began to warm until about 1850 when the Little Ice Age can be said to have ended.
This warming continued until the 1930s, the hottest decade of the modern era. The Dust Bowl was immortalized by Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, though Greta and her contemporary Millennials probably don't know about it. Starting about 1940 there began a gradual cooling trend which was ignored by Climate Crisis hucksters funded by the Club of Rome and gathered in the UN's IPCC for the purpose of swindling the governments of the world. These grifters were encouraged by a global temperature uptick of about 0.02 degrees per year between about 1970 and 1995.
But about 1996 or so this temperature rise stalled. By 2009 email leaks from IPCC top dogs revealed that they were aware of this problem and very worried that "Global warming" had stopped and they couldn't explain the stall and couldn't much longer stop the real climate scientists from noticing and publicizing it. That's when "Climate Change" was born. But the earth is still not warming and it may be starting to cool.
And meanwhile the frequency and numbers of sunspots have been observed to be in decline. The connection between the earth's temperature and the sunspot phenomena is no better understood than it was in 1700, really. But there it is. Less sunspots, cooler earth. How THARE that evidence be real, as Greta would scream it! How THARE the planet not be obeying Greta! She's going to hold her breath until she turns blue, than we'll be sorry!
There is no way to say the storm that ravaged Texas and neighbouring states is about Global Cooling. And why bother. We humans have advanced to where we have the technology – petroleum, nuclear, electricity etc. – to handle anything that comes our way without collapsing as past civilizations did in the face of global cooling. Provided we don't let totalitarian swindlers like the IPCC and its auxiliary thugs and idiots like XR and Greta Thunberg and Justin Trudeau persuade us to throw away our technology in favour of shading the sun, diapers for cows, rainbows, lollypops, wishes and windmills we'll be just fine.
