We are quickly entering a new age, where technological advancement is affecting humans more than ever before in history. Interconnectivity now allows for a quicker & more efficient advancement of data . Smart devices, can and are already communicating via chip to enable the so called machine economy. This economy of devices or "Internet of Things" is the next industrial revolution.
If you are old enough, you will remember the evolution of the mobil phone. From a book sized device, we are now operating smaller and smarter micro devices then ever before. All these smart devices & systems are paving the way for a new society and economy. One that will tax the machine and not the human.
What are the biggest challenges of the IoT?
Heterogeneous systems, data security, focus on hardware, getting connectivity right, design for all modules, working with many vendors, building trust between user and machine.
IoT solutions need to be able to handle various amounts of data, coming from different sources. In practical use, new devices are constantly added or replaced that often dont share the same UX. It is therefore crucial to provide a solution, that can adapt to the heterogeneous nature of IOT systems. The next step, is to make the solution appealing to the market demand, from a stylish interface for mobile use, to a more practical interface for the industrial sector.
Choosing the right type of network, is maybe the most important factor in the entire process of implementation. User demand for technology varies significantly from faster speed, lower cost to bigger data volume.
The challenge for the industrial implementation is that customer IoT solutions are often remote controlled and simple in nature. A loss of connectivity to those hardwear devices can lead to missing data points.
A strong IoT network serves as the backbone for many of the necessary components – hardware, data collection, application development, actions, rules, analytics, connectivity, and more. The goal is to have all sides interoperate seamlessly.
