The idea floating around in the USA press is that China is hurting worse than we are over this trade spat. I personally don't know. What I do know is that both sides will take financial damage if this continues.
Anyone who has looked at the trade deals that we currently have with China can see that they are very lopsided in China's favor. That was probably ok 20 years ago when their economy was smaller. In 2018 it needs a rework.
