Every winter there is a contest, here in Canada, called Roll-up-the-Rim to Win. It revolves around coffee. Like any good coffee addicted Canadian, I partake. In 2015, out of 80 countries, Canada ranked No. 1[1] in litres of coffee per capita consumed. In 2013, we were 20th[2]... We gulped and we gulped our way up (pretty sure we dropped from the top but I can't find any data after 2015.)
Canada is the only place where you can say to a crowd of people, "Hey, I'm going to Timmies." And no one will ask, Timmie who?
You can expect to get a bunch of responses like; "I'll have a large double-double," "large triple-triple with milk," or for the big boys, "extra-large 4x4."
My boys(not the youngest) and I drink our fair share of coffee. During the roll-up-the-win coffee program, my oldest and I thought it would be fun to track our stats. Timmies boasts a 1-6 chance of winning. Last year I would say maybe, this year, I call bullshit.
Here are my stats from last year:
2017 Stats
Wins: 13
Tries: 43
Winnings: 8 free coffees, 4 Donuts, 1 Wedges.
Not too bad, better than the 1 in 6 win ratio.
Now, wait for it... here are my 2018 stats so far
2018
Wins: 0 <- ZERO <- Nada <- ZIP
Tries: 19
WTF!? Is all I have to say.
Seem as though others have noticed. At least mine was printed. Oh, and oops...
‘Call in the Mounties!’ — Tim Hortons confirms some Roll up the Rim cups were misprinted[3]
And Tim Horton's assures us that the odds remain the same.
“We can assure our guests that all odds remain the same,” Tim Hortons said in an email statement.
Again, I call bullshit. Not sure how that can remain. Apparently, it's audited. We've never seen audit problems anywhere though. I'm sure it's all good. Ya, right...
Ever since the 2016 acquisition of Tim Hortons by the Brazilian(3G Capital) owned Burger King Worldwide Inc we've seen our beloved Coffee house go downhill, in my opinion.
Looks like the $1 any-size deal at McDonald's might be a better offer. What do you think?
Oh, and if you have not filled out your Witness dance card, be sure you do.
