Coldplay earned more than $ 500 million from their recently completed global tour, the band's promoter said on Thursday, making it the band with the third-largest revenue in history.
The British band performed their 114th and last concert on their "A Head Full of Dreams" tour on Wednesday night in Buenos Aires, selling out $ 523 million worth of tickets, Live Nation said.
Only two other concerts had more income: Irish rockers U2, who pocketed $ 784 million on their "360" tour from 2009 to 2011, and The Rolling Stones, whose earnings were slightly above Coldplay with their "A Bigger Bang" concert a decade ago.
Coldplay uses cutting edge technology for the tour. The audience is given an interactive bracelet that can change color according to the music and awesome display with laser and confeti.
The band, fronted by Chris Martin, who appeared in the early 2000s, previously hinted that 'A Head Full of Dreams' will be their last full album, even though they are merging a new EP in July.
Their tour began in March 2016, also in Buenos Aires, and reached nearly 5.4 million fans, according to Live Nation.
