Our little village has been Yarn Bombed and it looks great!!
As always I start out my Saturday with the sunrise. It was only 2°c and as clear as anything. I knew it would be a beautiful stunning day.
After the sunrise I thought I would go to the local village and take some photo's of the yarn bombing that happens every winter for at least the last 8 years. So much work goes into the creations, and there are some very talented knitters out there.
So what is yarn bombing you may ask? Well, I wasn't exactly sure myself until I saw the result. In winter when its pretty bleak and colourless, Greerton Village decided to give every tree a make over colour splash. Knitters of the area united and our very own Yarn Bombing took place. Now it is a regular winter occasion, and the works of art grow every year.
There are themes this year, with charities and community groups "blinging up" their own tree.
These will stay on the trees until Summer arrives, weathering all the storms and rain, as the ones in the photo's have done. In a few weeks the streets will be filled with blossoms and it is a sight to behold. I will show you when it happens.
I arrived early in the morning before too much traffic was about and the shops opened. Here's just a taste. (There are too many to photograph some in the middle of the main street !!)
Hope you enjoy.
