Isabelle Glacier is 10.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail. It's located near Nederland, Colorado. It's a moderate level hike with an elevation gain of 1,673 feet. It's best used from June-September. I hiked the trail on August 5th and it was perfect! The peaks of the surrounding mountain tops still had snow on them. The trail is very dog friendly, so don't hike it if you don't care much for dogs.
Sightings: Moose, birds, chipmunks, wildflowers, streams, small lakes, and white capped mountains.
Tips: take bug spray! There are giant mosquitoes that I believe to be on steroids! (Ouch) also, take rain gear; there is usually a midday 2:00pm mountain rain ☂️
This is by far one of my favorite hikes of all time. Don't let the 10.8 miles scare you; I can assure you it doesn't feel that long. There are so many beautiful things to see.
When you're done with your hike, drive in to Nederland and treat yourself to a slice of pizza at Backcountry Pizza! It's delicious and only $3 a slice!
