I took a photo of this statue since I liked it from afar, and did not go closer. It is in Civic Center Park near the Denver Art Museum, I thought it might be based on Leonardo da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man", but it is not. If you asked me to guess a hundred times, I would not have come up with what it really represents.
William F. Joseph “Christopher Columbus: Discoverer of America,”
This statue is in honor of Christopher Columbus. Apparently, Colorado was the first state to recognize the October holiday in his name, so this statue was made for that reason. The only link I could find for it is above and it is for the Top 10 Most Controversial Works of Art in the whole city. It has been defaced a few times over the years, but still looks peaceful at it is.
This is my post for #colorchallenge #thursdaygreen by since this statue is an a nice green setting.
