Posting a Letter in Town Vs. Country
Depending upon where you live in the UK you will find you will have a different choice of post box in which to post your letters.
These two are pretty standard letter boxes.
The red pillar post box was first used in Jersey in 1852 but the ones on the mainland were originally green. In London they started painting them red in July 1874.
In 2012 some were painted gold to celebrate the Olympic gold medal winners for Team GB.
The one to the right in my photo is more often seen in rural locations because of it's smaller size.
