I thought I'd try something different for today. This may well have been placed under #MondayMemories. The year was 2012, and my daughter was finishing high school. Prior to graduation, it has been a tradition to hold a prom night for juniors and seniors. In a way, this is like passing the torch to the next batch.
We spent months preparing for this. I'm actually glad that I have encouraged my daughter to make little decisions as she was growing up. For her prom night, she decided on the gowns that she wanted. She even looked up some designs to choose from. The color choice was all her own -- her favorite color, red.
I helped her prepare for the night, as I still do to this day when she has events to attend. I would usually assist with her makeup. I'm happy that she liked it that way.
As there was going to be cotillion, she wore a long gown at the start of the party. After all the formalities, she went back to the room for a change of attire. This time around a cocktail dress -- still in red.
I still couldn't believe that my baby is now a young lady. I'm elated that I get to build wonderful memories with her.
