Peacocks have been thriving here on the Hawaiian islands for over 150 years! We hear their calls out in the evenings and early mornings along the edges of the jungles near our home. Our boy always laughs, at their call as it's such a ridiculous awkward call out for such an exotically beautiful bird.
I'm always dazzled by their colors and form no matter how often we encounter them. I've found a few areas where a few particular birds will actually walk with us along trail sides without even being fed, they blow my mind with happiness:)
These amazing creatures are easily approachable and are very unafraid of humans on Oahu. We find them often at the Honolulu Zoo's children's park area roaming looking for snack offerings and hanging out in the trees. They'll surprise you at many camp site areas along the windward coast and around many of the major hiking area entrances.
