This special place in Denmark is about a 30 minute train ride into the countryside from Aarhus.
The property's use has evolved over decades. It's been a farm and village, a Dutchman's manor as trade from the King of Denmark, and is now the National Equestrian Centre where people (including the royal family) board their horses. A private business rents and works out of the manor house.
A lovely public park on the site with a fast-moving stream that winds through it is a place I love to visit for its serenity and hiking trail. There are plenty of places to sit and admire the beauty of Danish nature while eating a sandwich that's washed down with a beer.
If you ever visit Aarhus, Denmark, you must visit Vilhemsborg (especially in June!) and walk in the park there. You will be rewarded with views like this.
