When some think of a ladies day out, I'm sure that things like shopping bags and day spas might come to mind. But not for me, and
! We all happened to have a free day back in mid-October, so we spent the entire day outside exploring! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area!
First, here are couple of my favorite blue sky photos from the day:
A view from the gravel road
Our kayaks on the bank of the Jacks Fork River
and I began the day by taking an early morning hike at Dean Davis Conservation area just a short drive from her house.
The sun was shining and there was a cool breeze that made for the perfect morning hike! The trail is well-maintained by our Conservation Department and there are even archery targets set up for people to practice their bow shooting skills. I should have taken a picture of them...
After our morning hike, we decided that there was still plenty of time in the day to go adventuring. So we got a hold of our friend Adriane and loaded up some kayaks. Then we set out to go paddle across a spot on the Jacks Fork River to check out a cave and hang out by the water.
Heather's dog, Willie Nelson at the mouth of the cave
We're fairly certain that we stumbled across an Ozark Hellbender, which is a very rare sight, considering they are an endangered species. We did our best not to disturb it or its habitat. We only took a couple photos, and carefully moved on.
Heather had to go back a little earlier than me and Adriane. So the two of us sat on the bank and spent the remainder of the afternoon just chatting and enjoying the sunshine and the view
And of course, we took the scenic route home on the gravel roads ;)
Just another beautiful day in the Missouri Ozarks :) Thanks for checking out our adventure!
