I wanted to capture a photo of a bubble popping. What better instrument to pop a bubble than a sharp pencil, right? Well, it turns out that the tip of a pencil will pass straight through the membrane of a bubble without popping it... I had absolutely no idea this would happen! The bubble only burst once the entire tip of the pencil had passed through and the wood made contact with the bubble.
About a million bubbles later, I never captured the popping bubble image I had set out to get. But I did get some interesting shots of the pencil passing through the bubble membrane, and I learned a lot about bubbles in the process. Here is one of the images I captured:
This photo was taken using a Nikon D7100 DSLR with a Tokina Macro 100 F2.8 D.
Macro photography is a true test of patience at times... but I do love it so!
