Chinese New Year used to be filled with red 'tanglung' (灯笼) but this year I notice there were several restaurant that uses colourful lantern as their decoration such as this. I can't help but to ask my son to see this gorgeous colourful 'tanglung'.
Lantern is often associated with Lantern Festival or Spring Lantern Festival. Why lantern in the first place? There are a few original legends to it, but what I know since young was lanterns are lighted up to repel the darkness of the winter as we usher in the spring. However, now that I am a believer of Christ, I know we ourselves are the light that will repel the darkness.
