Common Milkweed
These colourful Common Milkweed plants bloom in the summer and the flower clusters are in various shades of pink. They are the host plants for the beautiful Monarch butterflies. When the flowers are gone seed pods form and crack open in late summer or early fall. The wind disperses the seeds which are attached to silky white hairs. The three feet tall, hardy milkweed plants have a wonderful fragrance and spread like wildflowers.
