If you go to the movie "Colombiana", you will find yourself in a world where the Beretta under a jacket and a stock of magazines provide real safety in case the party unexpectedly takes off. The latest production by Luc Besson is said to pay tribute to his old films. It's nice, but not the surprise that was present in his films.
Colombiana tells the story of a girl whose family is brutally murdered. Orphaned by the mafia and pursued by the police, the heroine declares war on the torturers of her relatives, not standing on the side of the law or those who break it. Paving the way to bloody revenge, Cataleya, because this is the name of the main character, uses skills on the border of "mass killer" and "silent assasin". The whole story reminds the viewers of all the good that "Nikita" and "Leon" showed us. And so here we have Matilda (young Cataleya), who is taken under the wing by pro Leon, here in the form of Uncle Emilio. 15 years later, we see a mature assassin, like Nikita, reaping the bloody harvest on the way to justice.
Lots of burnt-out shells and strong lyrics are the features that never seem to have been a bargaining chip for Besson's sensational productions. The director (in this production only as a screenwriter) defended himself with an interesting plot and thoughtful and suspenseful actions, which, however, did not obscure the whole picture. This is also the case of "Colombiana" directed by Olivier Megaton. The killings of the heroine are most often performed as a silent killer a'la "Hitman" (I mean more of a game character than a movie with Timothy Olyphant), with a typical mass killer during the final action. The use of a "warm" lens also successfully reflects the atmosphere of the region
It's hard for me to rate. The movie has the potential to do better than a regular killer, but instead of going out into the deep, it stranded in several important aspects of a good production. For this reason, the painting by Olivier Megaton becomes a production "just in time". A good action film in which the tears of the heroine after the loss of loved ones do not move us at all, and the tension eases after the second action, despite the fact that the film is not boring throughout the screening. So I will put out 6.5 / 10...
