This happened while I was working a closing night at my store.
The store closes at 9 pm and at around 8:50 I start to do my closing process, counting cash, cleaning up and making sure the all the paint machines are good to go for the next day. While cleaning up this, we shall call her Lady O, came running up and demanding that she needs paint. Me being the good service employee that I am turned to her and tried my best to help her.
Just to give a bit of context it takes an average of 4 minutes to do paint, shaking included. With 10 minitues left this could be done and still get her out of the store before closing.
Except this lady had one small problem, she wanted the coulor orange. Now to anyone who has gone to buy paint would KNOW THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT SHADES OF THE COULOR ORANGE NOT NAMED ORANGE. So to be a good employee I tried to and succeeded in finding a coulor called orange. Well this was not the right type of orange as Lady O said it was not orange enough. At this point it's 8:55 and Lady O runs off into the store saying she'll be back. I'm thinking its gonna be tomorrow but no why would she have to leave when the store is closed. She comes running back to the counter with a toy car and showing me the background of the box is the coulor of orange that she wanted. Well the box had a two tone effect running through it and at a big store I cant achive this effect. So I scaned it did the paint showed it to Lady O she was happy left at 9:10.
Satisfied that I helped finished my cleaning and went home. To those that think that this story is over have never worked in the service indusdy becuase we all know they come back. The next day I come in and there it is the can of paint I had mabe for her with a return note saying it was not orange enough.
Rule for working at paint counter no customers past 9pm.
