This past week’s comics saw the release of a new Batman comic in DC’s new Black Label line. The title is Batman Damned and the issue is #1. Once again I repeat...this just came out on Wednesday so RUN right now to your local shop to find a copy.
There are 2 covers to this book. The art is absolutely breathtaking by the totally underrated Lee Bermejo and the story by Brian Azzarello.
The cover price on this bad boy is $6.99...and both covers are currently selling for between $60-$80 a piece!!! Check out sales from just today.
Now you may be asking why this book has jumped 10 fold in just a mere matter of days?!? Well a few reasons...FOMO. Fear of missing out does not just apply to the crypto markets. It started fetching $25...then $40...and kept rising as more news agencies started covering the story as to WHY the book was hot. Then DC came out and said that they are editing and correcting ANY future printings and the digital editions. People started losing their fucking minds!!!
Ok ok...so you want to know what the big deal is?!? BATDICK!!! That’s right. In a couple of panels, you kinda sorta see Batman’s piece...in the flesh. It’s in shadows but it’s there in all it’s glory. Enjoy folks...
I personally think it’s a mistake on DC’s part to bow and cave in to pressure. The line is a mature audience line that kids cannot or shouldn’t be buying but what the hell do I know. We ordered a decent chunk of these and sold out on Friday with people popping in all weekend searching for some tasty Batdick, just to leave disappointed by me...as most women sadly have throughout my life.
I believe a second printing is already in the works that will have Batwang scrubbed from it. Oh...there is also a super rare version that was sent out to random select comic shops last month. This advance copy states it on the bottom left corner and contains no text. Just art. If you pop into a store and they have one, snag it!!!
