In my comic and toy store, one of the areas we specialize in is high end collectible statues and busts. There are a few major players in the game, but one of the biggie’s is Sideshow Collectibles. They produce high end, expensive, huge resin pieces of our favorite characters. Well, Sideshow has decided to slam me with not one, not two, but seven new pieces this week. You can make out a few of the boxes on the left side of this section of showcases.
Besides these things costing an arm and a leg, they also take up a ridiculous amount of space. Currently in our store, we house just under 1300 different statues and busts that range in price from $50 bucks onward up to around $4500 bucks!!! Not to toot our own horn, but I don’t know of another comic shop that has even a 1/4 the amount that we carry. In the store lies 24 Detolf cases and 2 gigantic showcases...all filled to the brim. Oh, and they line the tops as well. It’s one of the main draws to visiting the shop.
Lots of pieces are older and are extremely difficult to come by so hardcore collectors flock here often to find pieces that they can’t even find on the web. It’s something that we are truly proud of here. The problem I’m currently facing today is that I am out of freaking room!!!!
These 7 new huge pieces are going to have to sit for a few days as we figure out a solution. I think we are going to have to make a trip up to IKEA in the coming days to pick up a couple more cases. I just do not have the space at the moment. So for the time being, the following pieces are going to have to wait a few before being placed on display...
